On the side of my bed I have my pointe shoes hanging. Its been years since I've used them but they hold good memories and I like the touch they add to my room.
I was looking at them today and noticed that they aren't exactly "pretty" anymore. They're dirty, the ribbon is worn, they have blood stains (inside and out), etc. But, that is the beauty about them. Yes perfectly new pointe shoes are so fun and so pretty, but unless you let them sit, un-used and collecting dust- they don't stay that way long. Soon they're broken in which makes them dirty, bloody, the toe's soften so you have to use your own strength more than relying on the sturdiness of the new shoe, it molds to your foot etc.
I ended up applying that to us as humans. We start out so perfect, beautiful, and fresh. But soon life gets hard. We become broken, bruised, and dirty. But that's the beauty about us. Each bruise comes with a story/ memory, the blood and sweat stains show our strength and that we're trying, moving, and growing. It takes risk to get to the "pointe" (sorry, had to) where you're so imperfectly- perfect.
I KNOW I need to be more brave (like I used to be) and take risks, fail, take more risks, fail again, and again, and again. Because that's what shapes you, that's what makes life beautiful.
Keep your eyes open for inspiration. You never know what small thing will get you thinking until- *bing!* (that would be the sound inspiration makes when it hits you)
As I'm re-reading over this post I'm not sure it makes sense. I'm tired and will probably end up rewriting it in the morning. Haha! Goodnight.
