Today, we kick off the FIFA World Cup!

Hurrah! Hurrah! Today is officially kick-off day! Durban is electric! Everyone is tooting their cars, waving flags and going off their rockers. I feel compelled to get in the car and drive around tooting like a right nutter. I can't kick a ball for toffee but I am beyond excited to welcome the world to play in our beautiful country over the next month or so. There is such a great vibe here at the moment, I feel truly proud to be a South African. If you are visiting from abroad, I wish you a wonderful stay filled with fun, laughter and sunny skies. This is what Johannesburg looked like on Wednesday! You can check out some more great pics on the Boston Globe. I'd also like to extend a warm welcome to those of you who have popped over from This is South Africa. I was honoured to contribute some photos and info about our country to this cool German site. Party one, everyone! *PAAARRRRP!*

Happy Birthday to my baby brother!

Today my little brother is 11 years old. I can't believe that sweet little baby brother of mine is growing up so fast! It seems like just yesterday I was 11 and my Dad and Step-mom were telling me over dinner that there would be a new baby that summer. I was more concerned if we were still going to get a pool at our new house :)
Happy Birthday Chase! I hope you have a wonderful day and please quit growing up so fast! :)

Nine airplanes, three rental cars and one boat later we are at last home! We've yet to unpack opting instead to make up for lost sleep and spend sumptuous amounts of time in our own bed. Our bed-rest is over as of tomorrow when we finally begin our strict work schedule (something I've been very excited about).

I'm presently working on a lookbook for The Loved One and am in need of a fresh face (a face that isn't my own) to shoot for it! I'd love to hear from you if you are in New York and willing to don a couple pieces of clothing and stand in front of a camera for me. If you are interested or know of some lovely lady that would be please send me an email at me (at) hannahkristinametz (dot) com.

PS. The shop is reopened at last! Also, if you're curious as to who the handsome short haired stranger is in the pictures above that is Landon's brother Gavin (modeling one of The Loved One's patterned jumpsuits, hehe)!

Polka-dot Packages (and some ramblings)

Hello friends. Today feels like the first proper wintery day in Durbs! I am typing this bundled up in a sweater, scarf and jacket! It's quite nice for a change. Also, today has been quite an interesting one because, apparently, the morning news presenters suggested the whole country trumpet their Vuvuzela's (plastic, trumpet thingy's) at midday in support of our South African soccer team. So it's been Vuvuz, cars hooting and people partying in the street for a good part of the day! It's all rather festive and for all my longing to be skipping about in Europe, I am super chuffed to be in South Africa right now. Last night, I started on the latest Adrian Mole book. I won't give away any spoilers except to say it's the saddest one in the series. But it's also a brilliant and important read, I think. Sue Townsend is a genius. I am totally emo'd out having read a fair bit already so I decided to photograph something pretty to perk myself up. This polka-dot parcel is off to my Package Project bud, Kerry. We're a little late in sending off our goodies but better late than never, right? Kerry is a second year fashion-design student and you can check out her blog here.

Thanks for the outfit love in my post below - I'm glad to see Disqus seems to be working out ok. If you find my blog is loading too slow, please pop me an email (or a comment!) and I'll do my best to speed things up. That said, there is only so much we can do in Africa, hehe. Alright friends, have a great day and chat soon. x

Dream House Ideas- Wine Cellars

Well hello! I hope ya'll are having a wonderful Tuesday. I must say I had an absolutely wonderful weekend and even a pretty good Monday and Tuesday. School started yesterday bright and early at 8 am and while, yes my class is boring, I'm glad to have some structure in my life again.
Anyway as I've stated before I'm obsessed with home decor and I'm always thinking about my dream house that I will build one day. One thing I would love to have in my dream home is a wine cellar. Gabe and I are wine people. We love trying new wines and always have quite a few bottles on hand for when company comes over. A simple wine rack in the kitchen isn't enough for us. Here's a few wine cellars I'm drawing inspiration from:

How fabulous would it be to have one of these in your home? If I had one, I would invite you all over for a girls night and wine tasting :)
Have a wonderful afternoon!

What I Wore: Go-To Dress

Hello guys. How are you today? It's all soccer balls and flags a-go-go here in Durbs! I must say, I'm getting rather swept up in it all. A sales person at Woolies even 'welcomed' me and wished me a 'good stay!' That's what I get for wearing a trilby in-doors in SA! Anyways, I promised you a bit of wardrobe fun so here is one of my go-to outfits. I bought this dress at Edgars about 6 months ago and I've worn it almost every week. Of course, it's part florals. Ya'll know about my floral addiction! Well, I'm off to read the latest Adrian Mole which arrived today. Have yourself a wonderful evening and we'll chat soon:)
