Some Favorites

Lately I've had a lot of clothing/ accessory items that I've been snapping pictures of (on my phone of course, I need to be better about using my camera, but my phone is so much easier and it isn't a battery hog). So I thought it'd be fun to give you guys a peek into my wardrobe.
PhotobucketPhotobucket

1. That's what I wore to an ugly sweater party the other night. Awesome sweater and a vintage necklace that used to be my grandma's. :)
2. My MK Rose Gold watch... Mmmmmmmm. I can't even describe my love for this watch!
3. The scarf I received from my Secret Santa. And yes, I'm quite aware that my bangs need a trim... desperately.
4. My new Fossil bag c/o my sister. :) It was just what I wanted for Christmas.
5. Rust colored tights, sparkly heels, and a pretty chiffon pleated skirt. Busy Bee Lauren Instagramed a pic of her rust colored tights and sparkly gold oxfords she was wearing on Sunday and I happened to be wearing a very similar combo, so I had to share. :)
6. Pretty mint earrings also c/o my sister and my mint green Christmas PJ's. :)

So there you go, a little peek into my wardrobe. :) OH! And this incredible sunset took my breath away the other night...

Happy Tuesday!

P.S. BACHELOR! Did anyone watch it?!

A Look Back

Hey everyone! Are you having a good start to your week? Already ready for the weekend? haha! I'm guest posting over at A Lost Feather today. Sarah's blog is one of my favorites, so I highly recommend you hop on over!

Lately as the seasons have changed from Autumn to Winter, I've been daydreaming of warmer times. It's been so cold here, bitterly cold. I can hardly stand it, and I'm reminded why I don't love Winter. So today I'm going to step back to this past Summer. A time that seemed so perfect, adventurous, and warm. Well, as warm as you can get in Alaska. Which is where I spent a good part of my Summer.

If you weren't following me back then (most of you weren't) here's a summary:
My sister and her family lived in Alaska, but they were moving to the lower 48 in August. I knew it would most likely be the last chance I had to visit Alaska for a while, so I decided to put my life on hold and spend two months with them- then help them pack up and drive through Canada back to the USA. My parents even came up and stayed for a couple of weeks. Here are some of my favorite shots from that experience:
I'm just going to let the pictures do the talking... because there are a lot of them...

Mmmmmmmmmmm... Good times. I'm feeling much warmer now. :) And if that wasn't enough for you, go ahead and enjoy this video I made of my trip. I still watch it on a regular basis...

P.S. Don't forget to enter the Rolled Up Pretty giveaway! It ends tonight at Midnight!

Thanksgiving-ness

How was everyone's Thanksgiving?! Or- How was everyone's Thursday?! :D I had a great Thanksgiving, it was a little different this year. Usually we get all dressed up, go see a movie, come home and eat dinner, then lounge on the couch. But there were no movies we wanted to see this year (my dad wasn't really excited about Breaking Dawn... Shocking?), and it was just my sister, mom, dad, grandma, uncle, and myself. (we usually have more people) So instead- my dad and I took the 4wheeler up into the hills before our early dinner. It was a lovely morning/afternoon in the mountains. My kinda day. :)
Photobucket

It was crisp and overcast. You could feel the temperature drop as we climbed.
(yes, that's a frozen pond)
Photobucket

I can't get enough of these mountains.
Photobucket

We also saw lots of wildlife! Now, I KNOW these pictures are TERRIBLE. But I had to zoom a lot. And my camera only has a 10x zoom before it starts loosing quality... Plus these animals would have ran if we had gotten any closer. So bad photos it is...
Wild Turkeys (how appropriate right?!) and mountain goats. Also some deer, but I didn't take any pics. I see them all the time.
Photobucket

If you look closely you can see the mountain goats to the side of me. 3 white dots. One is up higher and the other two are down lower.

Here's my dad! Gotta love his puffy orange coat. At least it kept us safe and easily spotted by those families who were in the hills practicing their shooting...
Photobucket

Here's a 360 degree collage from where we stopped. It's crazy how different Utah is. On the East we have the beautiful lush mountains and on the West we have the vast dry deserts.
Photobucket

Then we headed home and had our Thanksgiving feast! Mmmmmmmm....

Everything was made from scratch. My mom and grandma are awesome. She was practically finished by the time I'd offered to help. I need to be better at that. She starts the night before so it's not so hard the next day.

Sweet Potatoes with roasted Marshmallows
Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
Homemade Rolls
Jello
Homemade and homegrown Grape Juice
Turkey (duh!)
oh it was dellliiiiiissssssshhhh....
Photobucket

There was/is pie. But I didn't even think to take a pic. I don't like pie, so I just had second dinner... :/ haha! (don't judge me too much- our first dinner was really like lunch... haha!)

I'd love to hear how your Thanksgiving/ Thursday was! Please, do tell! :)

Happy SHOOOOPPPPIIIING!
Might as well enter the Poshlocket Giveaway while you're here! :)

Fall Scenery- Check!

One of the other items I was able to cross off my "Fall to-do List" was- Go up the canyon and enjoy the beautiful fall scenery. CHECK!
Photobucket

I actually went by myself this time. It was so wonderful to be able to wander around alone with only the sounds of nature- The crunch of the leaves under my feet, the rushing of the river, the wind whistling through the trees. Heaven.
Photobucket

The colors are at their peak right now. They're more vibrant and bountiful than I have ever seen. The mountain sides look as if they're covered in flames.

One of my dad's favorite things is the Abraham Lincoln that you can see as you exit the canyon... This baby formed all by himself.

Why hello Mr. President.

I was even able to cross yet ANOTHER item off my list last night and I can't wait to share that with you! Man, I am on a roll!

P.S. The Chevron Pillow Giveaway closes tomorrow at Midnight! So if you have yet to enter, you better fix that! Savannah's actually hosting another giveaway over at her blog and she'd love you to check it out! :)

Bipolar Weather = Bipolar Me...

*SIGH*
(I literally just sighed... that's why I typed it...)

It is cold, there is snow, and there is only one thing keeping me happy. The fact that I can bundle up...

1. Full outfit (Poncho)
2. Yes, slippers
3. My gloves I bought in Alaska that are from the Himalayas

I guess SOME of the scenery hasn't been that bad. But this snow is messing with my head. I keep changing from being really grumpy- to singing Christmas songs- to being grumpy that I'm singing Christmas songs already- then back to grumpy in general. The weather man says it's supposed to warm up and dry out again next week... and boy am I hoping that's true!!

How's the weather where you are??

LUCKILY
I will be spending this evening meeting some of my BBFF's (Best Blogging Friends Forever) at THE cutest boutique ever. :) YAY! I'm super excited and can't wait to tell you aaaaaalllll about it!
:)

Happy Friday everyone!
(as long as it's not snowing...)

If you want to pretend you're partying with me too, you can read my guest posts from this last week. :)

OR if you're sick of me you can read this very interesting post from my sister's blog:

The Cabin! Pt. 3- Welcome Tour

The road to our cabin is somewhat treacherous... (I have no idea if that's spelled correctly, but there's no spell check. So I'm going for it...) Before we had gotten very far we noticed (thanks to some kind people on the trail) that one of our back tires had been slashed open by a rock. Awesome. Luckily the spare is a real tire and we had no trouble the rest of the trip. (except for when the 4wheeler had a flat tire just before we made the drive home...)

On to more exciting things...

If you missed it, here's the backstory on the cabin-
100 years ago my great great (great?) grandfather bought 160 acres in the Rocky Mountains hoping to strike gold, or anything really. There was some, but not enough to continue mining. Over the years shares of the land have been spread out between his posterity. A few years ago my father, uncle, and cousin in-law (and another uncle??) bought everybody else out and built this awesome cabin. It is definitely a family treasure. :)

Welcome to our cabin!!

When you walk in you're greeted by this very rustic stairway.

The main floor is one open area. The kitchen is straight ahead complete with all the amenities of home.

The dining table is just next to the kitchen.

And the living room is right by the door.

Lets go upstairs!

At the top of the stairs is an open area with 4 bunk beds and a single bed.

And to the left is the master bedroom. Sorry, I took the photo after we'd already stripped the beds of their sheets to wash them...

I didn't get a picture of the lower level. It has another bedroom as well as a bed under the stairs. The bathroom is also down there complete with a shower and yes, a regular toilet. :)

Outside there's a lovely deck in the trees and they just added this awesomely rustic hot tub!

This was my favorite place to be in the mornings. I'd come out here and watch the sunrise. It was perfection.

I wish I could live here all the time. This place is perfect. :)
mom & sister

I hope you guys enjoyed the tour! :D

P.S. My bloggy friend Sarah is having the best giveaway EVER! So you should probably check it out! Or really, don't. Because that'll bring my chances of winning down, and I WILL be winning this giveaway! haha!

Hint: it has to do with magical Harry Potter photos!
